Chris Roland and me went to see Willem Velthoven of mediamatic today to talk about the final details concerning Barcamp Amsterdam. Willem really is a great guy and has been very generous in providing us with support in any way he can for Barcamp Amsterdam. We went on the roof of the POSTCS building, what a view of Amsterdam! I hope it won’t rain on thursday for the opening of Barcamp so we can hold it on the terrace (the weather forecast doesn’t look that good though) Afterwords Chris (a very kewl dude) and I went to get a simcard for his phone but alas his phone was simlocked! 
I hope het gets his phone unlocked tomorrow!

Barcamp Amsterdam/Drupalcon pre-meet&greet in Cafe de Jaren
October 17, 2005A couple of us Barcamp Amsterdammers and DrupalConners got together last night for food and drinks in Cafe de Jaren in Amsterdam. I got to meet (amongst others) Andy Smith of Flock and Roland & Adrian of Bryght. They’re great guys and the evening was a lot of fun. We we’re counting on like six people to show up but in the end lots of people joined us so word got out. Now if only the same happens at Barcamp Amsterdam…;-)

October 11, 2005Ok so I had to blog about this: right now I’m in a lecture at my university and the lecture is in dutch. So the guy keeps on throwing in words (in english) like ‘corporate data model’, ‘context sensitive’ and of course everyone’s favorite ‘return on investment’. So first up why do people insist on using these words as if it still is 1999. Second why do people use a language other than their own? Especially in lectures throwing in these words is meaningless. This could all be frustration on my part, sure hope it isn’t a trend coming to hunt us from the past.

October 10, 2005We have a venue for Barcamp Amsterdam! Thanks to Willem Velthoven the head honcho at Mediamatic we can use their workshop space and kitchen! We only have room for about 40-50 people so sign up! Pictures of the place can be found here. Thanks again to Willem Velthoven and the Mediamatic crew for providing us with the space to hold Barcamp Amsterdam. Chris from Flock has written about it here.
